An intriguing teenage winger who is becoming well-known in Sweden has been connected to Coventry City. The Swedish Championship winners are reportedly in dialogue with Mjěby regarding a trade for Abdoulie Manneh ahead of the January transfer window, according to Swedish publication Expressen. This would be a record transfer for the Sky Blues.

With only Tatsuhiro Sakamoto and Ephron Mason-Clark regarded as wide men in the first team, Frank Lampard has publicly said that his team lacks depth on the wings and identified the flanks as an area for recruitment in the summer.

The overseas claims report: The Swedish Championship champions are in talks with Championship leaders Coventry City FC over Abdoulie Manneh, according to British intelligence obtained by Expressen. The deal is expected to be finalised in a few weeks.

The 21-year-old from The Gambia, who has scored seven goals and contributed three assists for the Swedish top-flight team, “may be on their way to a new record sale” with the Swedish Championship gold medallists Mjěby AIF.

According to the source, there is optimism that a deal may be finalised in a few weeks, which would enable the 21-year-old to join the Sky Blues on January 1st, when the EFL winter transfer market opens for business.

In fact, it was reported in the summer that Portsmouth, a rival team in the division, was considering making a move for the winger. However, Alan Nixon reported in September that an unidentified Championship team had reached an agreement, according to the player’s agent, following the failure of a move to Greek Super League team Olympiacos.

A few current Premier League teams were reportedly keeping an eye on Manneh’s progress before the end of the previous season, including Wolverhampton Wanderers, Brighton & Hove Albion, AFC Bournemouth, and Burnley.

After playing for Gambian team Wallidan, the mostly left-sided winger joined Mjallby in the summer of 2024. In just 58 games, he has scored 11 goals and provided seven assists for the newly crowned champions.
