Gunners looking at swooping in for out-of-favour Man City striker

Arsenal are considering making a move for Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is still in need of a striker up front to really have a chance of making progress in the league next season, with the team relying heavily on injury-plagued Olivier Giroud last season.

Danny Welbeck is Arsenal’s other option up front, however he too struggles with a knee injury. Wenger could use Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as additional forwards, but Walcott has recently returned from a year on the sidelines, while Chamberlain has also had problems.

Out In The Cold

Dzeko, 29, is also being chased by Roma, but would prefer to stay in the Premier League.

Despite a decent strike rate, he has never managed to fix himself a place in the starting 11 at The Etihad since signing from Wolfsburg in 2011 for ÂŁ27million.

The arrival of Liverpool’s Raheem Sterling, Villa’s Fabian Delph and possibly Wolfsburg’s Kevin De Bruyne could make it even harder for him.

Meanwhile, Wenger has always been a big fan of the striker, and has always preferred the option of a ‘big’ striker up front, having owned players such as Emmanuel Adebayor and Nicklas Bendtner.
