Gunners to shell out £37.5m to cover Welbeck injury

Arsenal are ready to pay £37.5million to sign Gonzalo Higuain, as they look to replace Danny Welbeck after he picked up a knee injury.

The England international is set to be sidelined for up to nine months after Welbeck was forced to undergo a knee operation following a serious injury during last weekend’s 2-2 draw with Manchester City at The Etihad.

The Gunners were continually linked with Higuain in 2013, but Arsene Wenger used the money that could’ve potentially signed him on playmaker Mesut Ozil.

Higuain has scored a staggering 33 times in 34 Serie A appearances for Napoli this season. The Argentina international has netted 88 times in 148 games in all competitions for the Naples outfit since his move in 2013.
