The striker is wanted by Chelsea but could move to Madrid instead
Edinson Cavani looks likely to move to Atletico Madrid, after admitting he could join the club this summer.
According to the Evening Standard, the striker himself admitted that the Spanish side are interested in signing him and it now seems as if a move to La Liga could be on the cards for the Uruguay international.
Chelsea have been keen to sign the forward for quite some time now and have renewed their interest in the 29-year old yet again now the season has come to a close. However, their hopes of signing him could be dashed with the news that he could be on his way to Atletico.
Ibrahimovic forced Cavani out wide
Cavani said: “It’s a really competitive team that has demonstrated interest in me and that pleases me, you never know if things could go further.
“Right now I’m a PSG player and I have to respect that; it would be improper to speak more about it.”
Cavani hasn’t featured as much as he would like for PSG and when he has, he has been forced out wide due to the club also having Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the side. However, the Sweden international has left the club, which means he could get more game time in France next year.
Despite this, and despite his own agent’s claims that he is likely to stay in Paris now Ibra has gone, he refused to rule out a move to Atletico and with the Spanish side obviously keen to sign the 29-year old, we could see the Uruguay international plying his trade in Spain next year.
