Chelsea are lining up a role at the club for John Terry when the defender announces his retirement from playing.

The former England captain is negotiating a new one-year deal with the Blues, at the age of 35.

And the Blues are said to be very keen to keep him at the club, possibly in a coaching or ambassadorial role.

Terry is keeping busy enough, as he is taking his coaching badges, as well as helping out with Chelsea’s youth teams.

Chelsea have a policy of only giving one-year deals to players over 30, which was a key factor in Didier Drogba leaving the club in 2012.

It is understood that Chelsea may let Terry manage the Academy side, then work his way up.

For the time being however, Terry wants to focus on playing, and more immediately helping to haul the beleaguered champions back up the table.
