The transfer chase for Leicester City hitman Jamie Vardy is hotting up, with Chelsea edging ahead of Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham for his signature.
England striker Vardy is stormed up the ranks in the last few years, beginning his career with Stocksbridge Park Steels, before moving to FC Halifax Town, Fleetwood Town and then the Foxes.
His fifteen goals so far this season, including scoring in eleven games in a row, have helped Leicester to a sensational second place in the Premier League table.
As expected, his exploits have not gone unnoticed, with rival clubs starting to sniff around.
And according to SkyBet, Chelsea are in front in the chase for the htiman, quoting the Stamford Bridge club at 8/1 to sign him.
But Guus Hiddink’s side face competition from top flight rivals Liverpool (14/1), Manchester United (25/1) and Tottenham (18/1), who the bookmakers consider outsiders for Vardy’s signature.
A lack of goals up front have helped to severely hinder the champions’ defence of their title, with Diego Costa, Radamel Falcao and Loic Remy only managing eight league strikes between them.
