Manchester United and Arsenal made to regret not signing midfielder

Manchester United and Arsenal are looking set to regret not signing Ilkay Gundogan, as the midfielder is poised to sign a new contract at Borussia Dortmund

The Dortmund star has continuously been linked with a move to the Premier League over the last couple of years. However, The Sun are claiming that Gundogan, who has in the past turned down a contract extension at Dortmund, is poised to sign a new 12 month deal.

Added Value

The reports have claimed that, because of the new deal, Gundogan’s future fee could increase by a huge ÂŁ10million.

United and Arsenal both had the chance to sign him for just ÂŁ15million, but will now have to pay ÂŁ25million if they want to buy him in the future.

Gundogan’s agent admitted his client could perform a u-turn and stay at Dortmund when he said: “This is clearly an option again.

“There are several things in favour of Ilkay finding his old level and doing that in a familiar, comfortable environment.”
