Liverpool give Rodgers ultimatum

The Reds manager has three games to prove his worth, according to the Mirror

Brendan Rodgers could be dismissed from his post after the first Merseyside derby of the season.

Before that they have a home tie against Aston Villa followed by a Europa League match against Fc Sion – anything other than a win in both games would be unthinkable.

The start of the season was encouraging, as they grinded out a 1-0 win away at Stoke after the 6-1 mauling at the Britannia Stadium on the final day of last season.

They claimed another three points against Bournemouth thanks to a controversial goal from summer signing Christian Benteke on his Anfield debut.

However a comprehensive 3-0 defeat against West Ham, followed by a 3-1 loss to arch-rivals Manchester United has heaped the pressure on the Liverpool manager.

Klopp IN Rodgers OUT

A number of Liverpool fans have called for the club to sack Rodgers and appoint former Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp as his replacement.

The Reds are reported to have tried to land the German coach on numerous occasions in the past, but according to German football expert Raphael Honigstein they might get another opportunity in November.

“It’s no secret by now that Liverpool have tried twice to get Klopp to take over,” he said.

“I believe there’s an opportunity to sit down and discuss things going forward maybe in November.”
