Brazil’s Gremio forward Everton has hinted he could leave the club this summer.
“Whether I say goodbye or not, I always tried to honour Grêmio’s shirt,” Everton said at his home stadium. The star striker from Latin America has been playing brilliantly in the Brazilian league but he realises his own potential and a move to Europe may soon be on the cards.
“I am grateful to this club. We’re still going to decide things,” he said. With rumours of Everton going to Europe doing the rounds, one club who has been linked with him is Manchester City.
City brought in Gabriel Jesus, another young Brazil forward a few seasons ago and he has been a big hit at the Etihad under Guardiola.
Everton went on to say, “I told people connected with me that if there was any proposal here at the Copa America they should leave me alone so I can focus here. But I am happy because I am happy I have been able to repay everything they bet on me.”
Guardiola will love to have another exciting forward in his team and a young player would suit the club well given Sergio Aguero is already north of 30.
