Manchester City Predicted Line Up vs Newcastle United- Defence
In goal, we can expect Ederson to start with Otamendi and Laporte in defence. Ederson has been really important for City in Pep’s style of play. The goalkeeper has done really well but has made an error or two this season, which is unlike him. City will want their defence to be strong but currently have limited options. Eric Garcia is still nursing a head injury while John Stones’ ankle troubles have not left just yet.
Having Laporte back in the lineup is a huge boost since his absence might have cost City the title this season.
Joao Cancelo might be called on to replace Kyle Walker at right-back. Benjamin Mendy at left back. Mendy is another player who thrives in Pep’s system and might get picked over Oleksander Zinchenko.
Manchester City Line Up vs Newcastle United – Midfield
A three-man midfield with Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden and Rodri can be expected. Fernandinho has been Pep’s jack of all trades but his red card against Chelsea will rule him out of this tie. Bernardo Silva looked out of form in the last tie which means that Foden could be given a run ahead of David Silva as well.
Manchester City Predicted Line Up vs Newcastle United – Attack
In the wings, we can expect Leroy Sane to make a late appearance while Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez fills their usual spots. Gabriel Jesus should lead the line with Kun Aguero out injured for the remainder of the season.
Manchester City vs Newcastle United Match preview
Manchester City will be without the suspended Fernandinho following his red card against Chelsea on Thursday night, with that ban carrying over into the FA Cup.
Sergio Aguero has undergone surgery on his knee problem and could miss the rest of the domestic season as a result, but Gabriel Jesus can come back into the starting lineup after only being named on the bench at Stamford Bridge.
Newcastle, meanwhile, will be without Nabil Bentaleb, who is suspended as a result of picking up two yellow cards in the competition already.
Matty Longstaff and Sean Longstaff are both still injury doubts, while they have been joined on the list of possible absentees by Matt Ritchie and Isaac Hayden. Florian Lejeune and Ciaran Clark are both definitely sidelined too.
