Nations League 2020

The second edition is starting off this year. However, it does have quite a few changes in rules and systems from the first edition.

Groups play each other home and away, with the four gathering victors of League A meeting all requirements for the UEFA Nations League Finals in June 2021 which include semi-finals, a third-place coordinate and the last. The gathering victors in Leagues B, C and D gain advancement and the individuals who finish base of the gatherings in Leagues An and B will be consigned.

As League C has four gatherings while League D has just two, the two League C groups to be consigned will be controlled by two-leg end of the season games in March 2022. On the off chance that a group due to take an interest in the end of the season games fits the bill for the 2022 FIFA World Cup end of the season games (more on that beneath), the League C groups positioned 47th and 48th in the general UEFA Nations League rankings are consequently consigned.

The set up for this season is a little different from the last one for the Nations League.

World Cup qualifying at first remains generally the equivalent, with ten gathering champs progressing straightforwardly to the finals in Qatar. It will include the ten gathering sprinters up in addition to the best two UEFA Nations League bunch victors (in view of their general UEFA Nations League rankings) who didn’t legitimately qualify or arrive at the end of the season games.

Nations League History

The history of the Nations League is only one year old.

Why form the UEFA Nations League?

Overall placings of each team will determine their seedings for the Euro 2020 qualifiers to be played from March 2019 to March 2020. Getting into the UEFA Nations League Finals will guarantee those top four teams from Division A, a group of less teams — five instead of six — in the Euro 2020 qualifiers.

Other than that, the UEFA Nations League, and winning the UEFA Nations League Final, counts for very little other than pride, prize money and world rankings points.

Until that is, when it comes to after the Euro 2020 qualifiers in March 2020, where instead of usual qualifying play-offs, the top 16 teams from the UEFA Nations League (top four from each division) who didn’t qualify for the Euros, play-off in their respective divisions through semis and a final, to earn one of four ‘second chance’ qualifying slots for the Euros
