The striker has rejected the Hammers in hope of move to Emirates

Arsenal are prepared to pay the £34.2 million asking price to land France international Alexandre Lacazette, after missing out on Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy.

Following a series of changes in events, during the current transfer window, the Gunners are now reportedly winning to provide the cash Lyon are asking for, to land the 25-year-old striker.

Lacazette has been sort after by Premier League clubs for some time, and netted 23 goals in 43 appearances for the Ligue 1 outfit last season.

West Ham United saw their attempts to land the striker rebuffed by the Frenchman, but it is understood the Lyon star could be tempted to link up with his compatriot, Arsene Wenger, in north London.

Lacazette was not selected for France’s European Championships squad this summer, and has instead had time off to consider his future, while Arsenal are yet to make their intentions known to Lyon.

The Gunners had hoped to land Vardy for around £20 million, after winning the Premier League with Leicester City last season, and finishing second in the league scoring charts, behind Harry Kane.

However, the former Fleetwood Town striker rejected a move to Arsenal, and instead penned a new big-money contract with the Foxes.

A move for Lacazette, to Arsenal, would see him link up with fellow Frenchman Olivier Giroud, up front.
