Denis Suarez excited relishing Unai Emery reunion at Arsenal
After signing for Arsenal from Barcelona on loan for the rest of this season, Denis Suarez is eyeing a successful period with the London club and wants to win the Europa League after reuniting with the current Gunners’ boss Unai Emery.
The new Arsenal signing played for Sevilla during the 2014/15 season, when Emery was in charge of the La Liga side and they won the Europa League that season, beating Dnipro 3-2 in the final.
Now, the midfielder wants similar success with the Gunners and admitted that he wanted to join the Premier League club before the transfer deadline.
Suarez was quoted as saying to Arsenal.com: “I’ve come here to play as much as possible and try to help the team qualify for the Champions League.
“I’d like to win the Europa League with Arsenal too – why not? It’s a trophy I won under Unai Emery at Sevilla and I’d love to win it again here.
“I’m very pleased to be here and to be joining Arsenal. I’ve been pushing hard to come here. I’m finally here now and I’m really pleased.”
“I have a very good relationship with him,” when asked about him and Emery.
“I spent a year with him at Sevilla when we won the Europa League. I think he’s a very demanding coach and one of the best coaches in the world right now – I’ve been saying that for a while.”
Arsenal play English champions Manchester City away at the Etihad stadium this Sunday.
