Valencia defender snubbed Premier League giants

Jose Luis Gaya has given his reasons for turning down a move to the Premier League after signing a new deal with Valencia.

Left-back Gaya, 19, had been targeted by Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea, who were all looking at signing him in the summer.

However, Gaya has put pen to paper on a new deal with the La Liga side, keeping him at the Mestalla Stadium until 2020.

Gaya Reveals Reasons

“I am very happy and proud to extend my deal with Valencia,” Gaya said.

“It’s what I wanted from the beginning and in the end things have turned out as both parties wanted.

“We’ve both emerged as winners from this and it is another dream come true. It was very exciting to debut in the Primera Division with Valencia, and now I have signed on for five more years.

“I want to thank the club for this renewal. May 25 is my birthday and there is no better early gift. Now we have a game against Real Madrid, which is always difficult, but we have our strengths and we will be going there to win.”

Release Clause

Gaya is a Spanish Under-21 international with a bright future, after an impressive first season with Valencia.

Reports indicate that he has increased his buy out clause with Los Che to ÂŁ36m, up from ÂŁ13m
