Wales boss Coleman sings praises of Aaron Ramsey: ‘He could play for any club’

Aaron Ramsey has received a glowing endorsement from his international boss, ahead of Wales’s match with Serbia.

Ramsey played an important role in the Dragons’ triumphant Euro 2016 campaign, in which they reached the Semi-Finals. Ramsey scored one goal, alongside four assists, and was named in the Team of the Tournament.

Since the tournament ended, however, the Arsenal midfielder has not been available due to suspension, as well as a hamstring injury.

Chris Coleman is now able to call upon Ramsey’s services once again, and has been heaping praise on the player.

‘He’s ready and he looks great,’ said Coleman. ‘Because I’ve seen him up close, in a tournament, I’ve seen the level he’s at, he could play for anybody. In my personal opinion there’s not a team on the planet he couldn’t play for when he’s at his best.

‘That’s not a biased opinion because I’m a Welshman and we all love Rambo. I’m looking at it clinically. Playing in tournament against the top teams, he was head and shoulders above. He could play for anyone.

“Being without him was a blow – and it would be a blow for anyone. It’s disappointing and frustrating. When our games come around they are huge challenges where we work on getting a performance right, because when do that we’ve always got a great chance of beating anybody when we’re at our strongest.”
