The President of Atletico Madrid has confirmed that the club are interested in bringing Chelsea striker Diego Costa back to Spain.

However, Enrique Cerezo went on to admit that a move for the forward is unlikely due to negotiations with Chelsea ‘being almost impossible.’

Costa is reportedly growing tired over his talent being overshadowed by controversy, especially this season, and is rumoured to be wanting to quit the reigning Premier League champions.

Cerezo told: Al Primer Toque Onda Cero: “He has a contract with Chelsea.

“There are many times when, as much as I want a player, there is a contract.

“To negotiate with Chelsea can be really tough, almost impossible.”

Costa netted 64 times for the La Liga side before arriving in West London in a £32m deal before the start of last season.

He has managed fifteen goals this term for Chelsea, but this season has seen its fair share of controversy, for both Costa and Chelsea.

Only last month, he was accused of biting Everton’s Gareth Barry during Chelsea’s FA Cup defeat at Goodison Park.

He has also had altercations with Watford’s Juan Carlos Paredes, Gabriel Paulista of Arsenal, and Emre Can (Liverpool).

He may well decide that, at the end of this season, that enough is enough. While temperamental, he remains a quality striker when he is on his game.
