Barcelona place Arsenal star on wishlist!

It’s been a tough day for Arsenal fans.

As if a 3-1 loss today at Stamford Bridge at the hands of Chelsea wasn’t bad enough, news is now emerging that Barcelona are reportedly very interested in bringing Mesut Ozil to the Nou Camp.

Ozil, who played the full 90 minutes in Arsenal’s defeat to Chelsea, along with Alexis Sanchez, has been subject to speculation regarding his future at Arsenal with contract talks between the German midfielder and the club reportedly stalling multiple times.

And with Arsenal’s hopes of finally grasping the Premier League after 12 long years dead in the water, it seems that Spanish giants Barcelona may look to capitalize on the Gunners poor season – by lodging a bid for Ozil.

His current contract expires in the summer of 2018 and Arsenal want to keep the ÂŁ42m man for longer, with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger desperately trying to tie down Ozil to a new long term contract.

On top of this, it is also reported that Bundesliga outfit Bayern Munich are interested – but the same reports also suggest that Ozil does not see himself returning to the German top flight, at least not yet.

He’s demanding more than ÂŁ200,00-a-week to stay at the club, but the interest from three of Europe’s biggest clubs could complicate any talks between the Germany star and top brass at the Emirates.

If Ozil and Alexis Sanchez have not signed new deals Arsenal will face a major dilemma this summer whether to sell or let them run into the final year of their contracts.

Ozil is the Gunners’ highest earner on ÂŁ180,000 a week, and knows that the ball is firmly in his court as he fast approaches the final season of his current terms.

And with Bayern Munich also understood to be monitoring the situation, it appears things will not be as simple as Arsene Wenger will have hoped – former club Real Madrid have also been linked in the past.
