Bernardo has said that he is enjoying the competition for places in the Brighton ranks.

The Brazilian left-back joined the Seagulls in the summer.

Brighton and Hove Albion’s Brazilian ace Bernardo has said that he is enjoying the healthy competition for places in the club ranks. The player joined the Seagulls in the summer and has started the last five matches in a row for Chris Hughton’s side. The player is fighting to keep his place permanently in the side with the likes of Gaetan Bong and Markus Suttner also in the side and is reportedly enjoying this race.

The 23-year-old left back said, “There’s big competition. “It’s really good. Good for me, good for Bongy, good for Markus Suttner and good for the team. All the players have to show in training sessions and on the pitch they deserve to play. I’m not willing to lose this spot as it took me so much time to get it.”

He added, “It’s really difficult, you have to improve every single weekend because the other players willing to play are also very good players. If they have one chance, they will take it and then you have to wait for the next opportunity.”

Brighton, who are not having the best of times on the pitch, are currently stranded in the 13th position in the league table with six wins from their 17 matches so far this season. They are set to travel to the South C0ast to face Bournemouth in their next match.
