Bong is happy to take the positives from the goalless draw against Watford

Brighton defender Gaetan Bong is happy with his team’s response in the goalless draw at home against Watford after a disappointing 4-2 defeat against Fulham in the mid-week clash.
The Seagulls looked a lot more composed at the back against Watford at home and, even though they missed several chances to win the game, Bong is happy to take the positives from the 0-0 draw.
He said, “We spoke before the game about reacting to what happened at Fulham because we played very well in the first half and in the second half we had some silly mistakes.
“We had to react and we did. We played well, were in control and had chances. We were unlucky because we didn’t score, but we showed a reaction.
“We had the fans behind us, we were all pushing together and everyone can see we wanted to score and win.
“We were unlucky, but we kept a clean sheet and didn’t concede a goal.”
“I enjoy playing with him, and he’s been playing well in the last couple of games. He’s playing well, is working hard and he gives me options to run forward.
Bong was entrusted with a more attacking role by Chris Hughton and the Cameroonian was happy to go forward and make an impact in the other half.
“This is important for me because everyone knows I can defend well, but I like to go forward when I can.
“Most of the time I try to do the job the manager asks me to do. Sometimes the fans are looking for me to go forward more, but I have to respect what the manager and team needs from me.”
