Antonio Conte still keen on taking Sab-batical

Reports claim that Antonio Conte is still wanting Walter Sabatini as his right-hand man when he takes the manager’s job at Chelsea.

Conte will take over at Stamford Bridge after the European Championships this summer, where he hopes to lead Italy to glory.

News that he wanted Sabatini as his assistant first surfaced in February.

And he is still trying to convince his new bosses to come round to his way of thinking regarding Sabatini.

Sabatini is currently Director of Football at Italian side Roma, although he will leave at the end of the season.

He was spotted near Stamford Bridge last week, and his presence fuelled rumours of two potential summer signings in Miralem Pjanic and Radja Nainggolan.

One possible stumbling block to Sabatini arriving, as managing player recruitment, could be the presence of Michael Emenalo.

Emenalo is currently in charge of player recruitment in his role as technical director. This is a role he is expected to keep when Conte arrives in West London.

Another issue could be the language barrier. Conte has admitted that Sabatini’s grasp of the English language is ‘terrible’
