The Premier League duo face competition from PSG to land the Portuguese international
Jose Mourinho has made Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho his main target in the January transfer window.
Chelsea will have to fight off interest from Premier League rivals Liverpool and French champions Paris St-Germain who have also shown strong interest.
Fitting the bill
The Portugal midfielder has attracted a lot of attention from a number of top European clubs over the past few seasons after impressing for both club and country.
Chelsea have made a slow start to defending their Premier League title, sitting 15th with eight points from seven games, and their midfield in particular has come under question.
Liverpool have also struggled in midfield this season, with Joe Allen and Jordan Henderson struggling with injuries and the future of Lucas Leiva in question, Carvalho would be a perfect addition for the Reds.
