Napoli may allow star striker to leave this summer

Incoming Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is confident the Blues will bring Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain to Stamford Bridge this summer.

The striker, who has netted 34 goals in 40 appearances for the Serie A outfit this campaign, has generated plenty of interest in recent years, with Arsenal having failed with an attempt to bring the Argentine to the Emirates three years ago.

However, Conte believes he will land his number one target this summer, who is valued at ÂŁ45 million, with the 46-year-old planning a major overhaul of a squad that has heavily underperformed this campaign.

Napoli are understood to be happy to cash in on their 28-year-old striker, while the player’s market value is still high, and that could see want-away striker Diego Costa head back to Atletico Madrid or make a move to China.

Chelsea are adamant that no amount will see them sell the Spain international, who made a slow start to this campaign, with his former club keen to bring him back to the Vicente Calderon.

But, with Conte ready to make numerous changes to the squad he inherits this summer, with some reports suggesting first-choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois could be leaving for Barcelona, he may have to sell Costa, in order to finance his transfers.

The Blues are also confident they will complete a deal for AS Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan this summer, while they could also raid the club for defender Kostas Manolas.
