Corinthians are becoming frustrated by Chelsea’s indecision

Corinthians president Roberto de Andrade insists the club are happy to take Alexandre Pato back to Brazil, if Chelsea don’t want to commit to a permanent deal.

The Blues have the option to buy the Brazil international on a permanent basis this summer, after joining the club from Brazilian side Corinthians during the January transfer window.

However, it seems Chelsea are unsure about taking the 26-year-old on a permanent basis – having made just two appearances for interim boss Guus Hiddink – after an underwhelming spell in the Premier League.

“He still has a contract with us which has to be honoured. So nothing has changed in the situation regarding Pato.” De Andrade said.

“So, If Chelsea don’t want him anymore and don’t pay for his transfer, then he will move back to Corinthians.

“And once back with us he will be used for us in our team.”

Keen to stay in Europe

But despite Corinthians eyeing a potential immediate return to the club’s starting XI for the former AC Milan forward, Pato is keen to stay in Europe – and preferably the Premier League.

Liverpool had been linked with the once highly-rated Brazilian, on a loan deal, before Chelsea acted quickly to snatch him from the Reds’ grasp.

“I feel that my body and mind are strong. My aim is to stay here in Europe and continue at Chelsea,” Pato said.

He didn’t feature in the weekend’s 3-0 loss to Manchester City, but scored on his debut, from the penalty spot away to Aston Villa, before starting his first match for Hiddink, in the club’s 1-0 defeat against Swansea City.
