Two Chelsea legends are returning to Stamford Bridge in new roles.

Frank Lampard and Michael Ballack are returning to Chelsea, albeit in ambassador roles, according to reports.

Ballack and Lampard both dominated during their time at Stamford Bridge with the latter particularly being known as one of the greatest ever Chelsea players.

Lampard left the club in 2014 cementing himself as a Chelsea legend after 13 seasons at the club with dozens of trophies and individual awards. While Ballack also had a huge role in Chelsea’s dominance during his four years at the club and won the double under Ancelotti in 2010.

The Daily Mail report that the duo have met with club director Marina Granovskaia about a return to Stamford Bridge in ambassadorial roles.

Ballack is well known for his continued support of Chelsea and routinely posts on social media and twitter his predictions and reactions for Chelsea games. While Lampard was initially thought to have been aiming to become a coach but has been appearing as pundit for BT Sport. But Lampard has been taking his coaching badges at Chelsea.

Both Ballack and Lampard have been busy with TV duties lately but both are expected to join the club in the nearby future.

After technical director Michael Emanalo left the club recently, many fans (albeit somewhat wishfully) called for Lampard to become the new technical director.

It will be exciting news if the two legends do join the club especially as there’s potential that either of them could move up into more prominent roles at the club.
