Blues will work with Begovic and Blackman
Chelsea will NOT request an emergency loan to cover for Thibaut Courtois being injured over the next couple of months.
The Belgian goalkeeper was ruled out for “quite a long time” by Jose Mourinho after picking up the injury to his right knee on Wednesday.
Asmir Begovic, signed from Stoke in the summer, will be the one starting in goal for Chelsea against Everton today.
Mourinho said he wasn’t thinking about the possibility of an emergency loan deal and confirmed Jamal Blackman will step up if required despite not making an appearance for the club.
No Plans For Loan
He said: “I don’t want to think about it (emergency loan). I just lost a goalkeeper. I want to be positive.
“He (Blackman) didn’t play one single match in the Premier League. He was on loan at Middlesbrough. I think he didn’t play one match in the Championship.
“I think he played in a (youth) cup match against Liverpool and no more than that.
“No experience of being in goal. He doesn’t have that, but he has potential.”
