Claudio Ranieri Admits He Needs To Work On Fulham’s Defence

Claudio Ranieri has vowed to improve Fulham’s defensive display as he gears up for his first challenge when Fulham welcome Southampton at Craven Cottage.

Ranieri took over the charge from Slavis Jokanovic as the former manager managed to grind out just one win in the first 12 matches. The Premier League winner has a tough task to cut out as the Cottagers have leaked 31 goals so far in the Premier League, most by any team in the top flight.

Ranieri does have a pretty talented bunch of players and he just needs to make sure things fall in place from now on. The newly promoted side looked to have out of ideas a number of times this season and Ranieri must address this situation.

Ranieri insists he needs to work on the defence. “As an Italian manager, the defensive way is the best method of the team.

It is important to have a strong vision of how to work defensively.

“It’s not only the full-back, or the goalkeeper. When you attack, you attack as 11, when you defend, you defend as 11.”

“There is plenty to work with here.

“I watched some games against Manchester City and Liverpool and the quality is high here.”
