Turkish side Fenerbahce are in talks to make the loan deal of Liverpool star Lazar Markovic permanent, according to reports.

Markovic was brought to Anfield in the summer of 2014 by now ex-manager Brendan Rodgers for ÂŁ20m from Benfica.

But he did not make much of an impact in his debut season on Merseyside, and was shipped out on loan to Turkey.

However, he seems to be settling better this season, with one goal in thirteen appearances, already more games under his belt than the eleven he has managed for the Reds.

They may be keen to take a loss on the Serbian international, according to Turkish newspaper Takvim.

Markovic has twenty-one caps for Serbia, scoring three goals.

He has a history of being sent off in European competition, receiving a four-match European ban for appearing to flick his fingers in the face of Behrang Safari of Basle in a Champions League tie.

He was also sent off for Benfica in a Europa League semi final tie with Juventus, which caused him to miss the final which Benfica advanced to.

He has only scored three goals for Liverpool, in the Premier League against Sunderland and Tottenham, and in the League Cup against Bournemouth.
