Fulham have completed the signing of Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrovic from Newcastle United for a fee of £22 million. Mitrovic joined the club on a five-year deal.

Aleksandar Mitrovic came to Newcastle from Anderlecht in the summer of 2015 for £13 million. The 23-year old striker was having a miserable 2017-18 at Newcastle so he was loaned off to Fulham this February till the end of the season. This move did wonders for him as he scored 12 goals for the West London club in just 17 matches, helping them gain promotion to the Premier League after four years.

The Serb expressed his delight in joining Fulham, saying, “I’m happy to the moon and back. I’m very glad and happy and proud to finally be here and officially become a Fulham player. I have love for the fans. They’re amazing fans and I have a really good connection with them. This is a big club and last year we made history. We want to keep making big things – and with all the fans behind us I think we can go far.”

Mitrovic is Fulham’s fifth signing this summer. He was also in Serbia’s squad for this summer’s World Cup in Russia. He played all of Serbia’s matches in the tournament, scoring against Switzerland.

Fulham begin their Premier League campaign against Crystal Palace  at Craven Cottage on 11th August.
