Chelsea captain John Terry will be out for up to three weeks

Antonio Conte expects John Terry to be out for “two or three weeks” after the Chelsea captain picked up a muscular injury in training.

Terry has only started just one game since straining his ankle ligaments in the final minutes of the 2-2 draw with Swansea City in September,

And it hasn’t been easy for the Skipper having to be a spectator during the six-game winning streak that has seen the Blues rise to the top of the Premier League.

“For tomorrow, I don’t have Terry and [John Obi Mikel] available,” Conte said. “John [Terry] has a muscular problem in his glutis [glute muscle]. Obi is recovering from a muscular problem. In the next week, he’ll train with us.

“John [Terry]’s injury happened in training. [He is out for] maybe two, three weeks.

“Now it’s important for John [Terry] to recover from his injury, then start a good training session and to have a good form. It’s a pity because he recovered very well from his last injury. Now he needs to stop again.

“I’m not sure if the injury was during the game for the U23s or the day after. But that’s not important. The bad news is now he’s injured.”
