Jose Mourinho is keen to bring Gareth Bale back to Tottenham and end his Real Madrid nightmare.

The former Spurs winger has helped Real Madrid to four Champions League titles and two La Liga titles since his arrival at Santiago Bernabeu in 2013.

Despite his achievements and his contributions to the club, he is still overlooked by the coach and featured just twice after the season restarted.

The Welshman has featured just 20 times last season, contributing three goals and two assists.

His bitter relationship with coach Zinedine Zidane has led to speculation linking him with a move away this summer.

According to reports, Mourinho is eager to sign the winger and offer him a chance to get his career back on track.

The Portuguese coach has been a long admirer of the forward having previously tried to sign the winger during his time at Manchester United.

The only stumbling block will be the Welshman’s wages, he earns ÂŁ350,000-a-week wages after-tax at Real Madrid which would be in excess of Tottenham’s wage bill.

Gareth Bale has two years left on his contract and his agent Jonathan Barnett stated that his client is happy to remain at Santiago Bernabeu for the remainder of his contract.

“Gareth is fine. He has two years left on his contract,” he told BBC Sport.

“It’s a great loss that he’s not in the Real Madrid team at the moment but he will not leave.”

He added: “He likes living in Madrid and he is going nowhere.

“He is still as good as anyone else in the team. It’s up to Zinedine Zidane.

“Of course there’s been interest but there’s hardly a club in the world which can afford him.”
