Puel hopes for a repeat of Carabao Cup performance against Manchester City
Manchester City make the trip to the King Power Stadium on Boxing Day and Claude Puel wants his players to replicate their Carabao Cup performances when they face the reigning champions on Wednesday night.
The Foxes crashed out of the quarterfinals of the EFL Cup with a penalty shootout defeat against Pep Guardiola’s men but Puel had plenty of positives to take from the performances of his players.
And they will be looking to build on their sky-high confidence after upsetting the odds to beat Chelsea 1-0 last week. Leicester moved into the top ten with three points against the Blues in their previous outing and they will need to cause a major upset once again if they are to get anything out of Wednesday’s game.
“We play Manchester City after a loss – it will be tough,” Puel said.
“It will be, I think and I hope, a similar game like the League Cup. Because we played well, with a very good second half.
“I hope we can compete against this team with the same values and mentality and now it’s important to recover because it was such a strong game (against Chelsea).”
“All the time, they (City) can have two players for every position in the team,” Puel said.
“We will see if we have the ability to repeat three days after a tough game against another great team.
“It will be another fantastic challenge and we need to create another upset.”
