Youri Tielemans joins Leicester on loan from Monaco
Leicester City have agreed terms with Monaco to sign midfielder Youri Tielemans on loan for the rest of this season. The deal will see Adrien Silva go on the other side and play for the Ligue 1 side for the next four months.
Tielemans arrives at the King Power Stadium after a very decent 18-month spell with Monaco, where he featured 65 times, scoring six goals – five of them coming in this campaign.
The Belgian, who represented his country during the 2018 World Cup, is a product of the Anderlecht Academy and is one of the brighter prospects in European football.
Speaking to Leicester’s official website, Tielemans was excited by the prospect of playing in the Premier League. He was quoted as saying:
“I’m really excited to get going. The Premier League is one of the best leagues in the world and when I was young, I always watched Premier League games.
“I’m really happy to be here and I’m excited to get started on Sunday – I think every kid dreams about playing in the Premier League.
“I didn’t know that much [about Leicester] before their championship win in 2016. Before that, I didn’t know too much about the Club. I knew recently there was some dramatic events, but I know the Club is really good inside.
“It’s a big family. Everybody is really kind and really good with me. I think it will be really good here.”
Leicester City play Manchester United in their next league game this Sunday, and we could see Tielemans in action then.
