Reds after £18 million England-bound Bundesliga star

Liverpool have joined the race to sign Brazil midfielder Roberto Firmino from Hoffenheim for £18 million.

Reports suggest the Reds have marched into the lead to sign the Manchester United and Manchester City target.

The player’s agent, Roger Wittman, has already confirmed his next move will be to England, which has attracted the interest of some of England’s biggest clubs.

No deal will be able to be completed until the 23-year-old returns from the Copa America, which is being hosted in Chile.

Hoffenheim career coming to an end

The young Brazilian has spent five years at the German club, having left his home country of Brazil in 2010.

There are no clear favourites from elsewhere in Europe for the Brazilian’s signature, although most will have backed off following his agent’s recent announcement.

He is a valuable asset and will bolster any English side he joins, significantly. Firmino has made 153 appearances, scoring 49 times since joining the Bundesliga club.

The attacking midfielder has also made his international breakthrough in the last 12 months and will feel he can strengthen his chances of being a part of the Brazil squad for the long term, by moving to the Premier League.
