Ahead of tonight’s Merseyside Derby, Liverpool midfielder Giorginio Wijnaldum has been singing the praises of his manager Jurgen Klopp.
The Reds enjoyed an impressive start to the season under Klopp, but the wheels appear to have fallen off in recent weeks, with Liverpool dropping points against Bournemouth and West Ham United.
They can leap above Manchester City with victory over Everton tonight, as they look to close the gap on leaders Chelsea.
Dutchman Wijnaldum, speaking to Sky Sports, has revealed how highly he rates the charismatic German.
“He is a big character and also a god manager,” Wijnaldum said.
“He’s a manager that gives the players a lot of confidence and that starts before you play the game.
“The way he hugs you and gives you a feeling he is behind you no matter what, that he has faith in you to play a good game.
“That’s already a good sign for the players and every time we play, we have confidence.
“Even if we win, after a good game like Middlesbrough for example, he always sees things to do better.
“He is always searching for the perfect thing and that’s great as a manager because he knows we can do better and he wants us to do better.”
