Jamie Carragher has hit out at Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius, who had a horror show this weekend against West Ham.
Karius came under fire from Carragher’s fellow Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville, who criticised the stopper’s performance at Bournemouth last week.
Karius, in response, took a pop at Neville’s managerial career, after he was sacked by Valencia last season.
I don’t care what Gary Neville said. He was a top player, then he was a manager for a short bit and now he is back to being an expert again.
“But he is always very critical. I think he does it to everyone. I just hope that when I do well he will comment on that. We will see in the future.” Karius responded.
Neville took to social media to give a cheeky reply, quoting on Instagram:
The caption said: “My sincere apologies Karius. You’re right. A failed manager hasn’t a clue.
“I won’t copy your great fan, pundit and club legend again.”
Neville’s Sky Sports sparring partner, ex-Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher waded in, advising Karius to focus on keeping shots out on the pitch, rather than firing shots away from it.
“The ‘keeper got criticism last week and has come out and had a pop at Gary Neville and mentioned me and my advice would be: ‘Shut up and just do your job,’ Carragher said on Sky Sports.
“And doing your job and answering your critics would be saving that [Payet’s free kick]. That is not difficult, I think the positioning is fine, he gets across and reads it well and he is there.
“And his wrists, again like the first goal at Bournemouth, are not strong enough. It is not even in the corner and Payet has not even hit it that hard.”
