Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne has confirmed that he will be out of action for ten weeks.

De Bruyne tore ligaments in his knee and ankle in Wednesday’s Capital One Cup semi-final with Everton, in which City progressed to the final to play Liverpool.

De Bruyne will not feature in that final, and may not return until mid-April, if not later.

The Belgian took to Twitter to confirm the news. He tweeted:

‘Just got back from the specialist. I’ll be out for around 10 weeks.

‘I’ll work hard on my recovery and hope to be back on the pitch asap. Thank you for all the supportive messages!’

As well as the Capital One Cup final clash at Wembley, De Bruyne will miss the Champions League knockout ties with Dynamo Kiev, as well as important league clashes.

De Bruyne is set to stay in Manchester for his recovery as his girlfriend is expecting their first child shortly.
