Liverpool winger Sadio Mane has expressed his delight at playing under Jurgen Klopp, ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Manchester United on Monday.

Mane arrived at Anfield in the summer from Southampton in a ÂŁ34m deal, and has quickly settled in with some inspired performances.

It has been a big Red love-in between Mane and Klopp since the player’s arrival. Klopp enthused last month that:

“From the first moment it was pretty much clear that he would be good for us,” Klopp said.

“I was really happy when we signed him. It was a good moment when I heard it was done.”

And the winger has revealed that he could have worked with Klopp sooner.

“Before I came here, I had the chance to meet him when he was at Borussia Dortmund,” Mane told BBC Sport.

“I was at Red Bull Salzburg and he tried to sign me – but it didn’t happen and that is football.

“He is a good manager and he is someone who likes his players.

“At the end of last season, he called me and told me he wanted me to come to Liverpool.

“I said straightaway that I want to come. It was the right time and right coach for me. I am very happy to be here.”

Mane, with three goals in six games, seems set to play a key role as Liverpool look to get one over on their heated rivals from across the M62.
