The striker is recovering well from his injury

Liverpool centre-forward Divock Origi is hopeful that he could be fit enough to play in the Europa League final later this month.

The Reds will play Sevilla in Basel on May 18 after seeing off Villareal in the semi-final with a 3-1 aggregate victory.

Origi has been out with an ankle injury that he suffered in the 4-0 Merseyside derby win over Everton at Anfield on April 20, and there were fears that his season was over.

The media are confident he will be back

However, Belgian journalist Kristof Terreur claims the 21-year old is targeting an appearance in the European final in 12 days time.

If Origi can be fit in time for the final then it will boost his chances of making the Belgium squad for this summer’s European Championships in France.
