Roma midfielder casts doubt over future

Roma star Miralem Pjanic has put Liverpool on red-alert and put his future in Italy in major doubt after hinting he could leave the Stadio Olympico.

Pjanic moved to Roma in 2011 from French giants Lyon, and has attracted big attention from Premier League sides after starring in the Roma midfield last season.

Liverpool apparently lead the race to sign him, as who played a key part in Roma’s second place finish in Serie A. And the 25-year-old, who has been dubbed by some as a potential replacement for Steven Gerrard, has given Reds chief Brendan Rodgers a huge boost by suggesting his future could lie away from Rome.

Future Unknown

“When you’re a footballer you never know where you’ll play next season,” Pjanic told Fox Sports.

“Anything can happen, it’s never simple for a player, but I try to live calmly and not listen to rumours that the journalists talk about.

“I look only to the pitch, to my work, and then what happens, happens.

“I’m happy though, the club is always working to do better and improve. I repeat – I’m happy where I am and I’m focused on becoming one of the best in the world.”
