Pep Guardiola explains how Man City would deal with Leroy Sane exit

The Manchester City winger’s departure does not mean City would be looking for options. Guardiola feels that he already has existing players to fill his void and have no plans to buy a replacement next transfer window.

The manager confirmed on Friday that Sane has rejected many offers of a new contract and moving elsewhere with Bayern Munich leading the race in signing the winger. He would leave either in the next transfer window or when his contract expires.

When asked if the club would be looking for a replacement, Guardiola retreated from the idea.

“First, Leroy is our player, I don’t know if he is going to leave this summer or going to leave at the end of the contract,” Guardiola said.

“We have a lot of good players up front. Gabriel (Jesus) can play on the left, Phil Foden can play on the left, we have Raheem (Sterling) there as well, so we have talented players up front.

“Most of them, they are in good and healthy condition, like Phil, Gabriel and Raheem, they can play regularly for a long time. They are so stable in terms of injury situations so I think we have other priorities.

“But after coronavirus, the situation economically, financially for clubs is changing so I don’t know what is the situation. We are going to see at the end of this season.”
