Florentino Perez hints at possible Cristiano Ronaldo departure

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Real Madrid future has been cast into doubt after club chief Florentino Perez admitted the Portuguese superstar may be sold.

Manchester United have long been linked with their former player, while Paris St Germain are also thought to be keen.

While it would almost certainly take a monumental deal to force Real to sell, Perez has changed his stance from two years ago, according to the Mirror.

In 2013, Perez said: “Be sure that Cristiano Ronaldo will retire at Real Madrid, because he wants to retire here, like Zinedine Zidane and so many other great players.”

Now, Perez is not so adamant that CR7 is staying, stating:  “Cristiano Ronaldo has a contract and we want him to stay in the future, but in this life you can’t be sure of anything.”

Ronaldo has three years on his current deal, and would be 33 by the time it expires.

If he does leave, another possible may be the MLS, with Los Angeles Galaxy also reportedly keen on the goal machine.

Real may view it that Gareth Bale would be their main focus on the attacking front long-term, and Ronaldo being sold may be no longer beyond their thinking, even if it would take an astronomical amount for them to even consider it, having paid United ÂŁ80m for his services.
