He has told the club’s chief executive that he’s leaving

Borussia Dortmund playmaker Henirkh Mkhitaryan has admitted to the Bundesliga club that he wants to leave this summer in order to join Manchester United.

The Armenia international has already been subject to Premier League interest, with London rivals Arsenal and Chelsea reportedly keen on bringing him to England.

However, the 27-year old’s agent, Mino Raiola, has stated that his client has rejected Dortmund’s latest contract offer, meaning he only has one-year remaining on his current deal.

The Red Devils have now emerged as the favourites to sign Mkhitaryan because Raiola also represents United’s new manager Jose Mourinho, meaning negotiations could run smoothly.

Dortmund’s chief executive Hanz-Joachim Watzke said: “Manchester United is a unique opportunity. Micki (Mkhitaryan) wants to go there.”

Mkhitaryan scored 23 goals this campaign for Thomas Tuchel’s men.
