The agent of Palmeiras teenage sensation Gabriel Jesus has revealed that the player dreams of playing for Manchester United – but stopped short of admitting that the Red Devils have made a bid.

Jesus, 18, plays up front for the South American club, and is one of the hottest properties in Brazil, rated as being a better prospect than Barcelona superstar Neymar.

Brazilian newspaper O Estado de Sao Paulo recently claimed that United had made a bid for the striker, along with Champions League finalists Atletico Madrid.

Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Paris St-Germain and United are all reportedly able to sign Jesus for £18.9m, even though he has a £23.6m release clause in his contract.

His agent Cristiano Simoes denies that any bids have been made for the player.

He told Sport Witness: “As for the fact that Manchester United’s name was mentioned by Estado, I don’t have much to say.

“It’s no more than speculation. That’s how I understand it, since I was not officially contacted by the club or its representative.

“There wasn’t even a contact, at least not with me or the player.

“Regarding the preference clause, or these five clubs, this subject comes into contractual issues, and so because of the confidentiality clause I can’t disclose the contract details.

“United are a world football force. Everyone dreams of playing there, but the thing is not so simple.

“We need to analyse aspects regarding the adaptation to food, climate, language, social interaction, among other things.”

Any potential deal for Jesus could be complicated, as Palmeiras only own 30 per cent of his economic rights, with the rest split between Simoes, Jesus himself, and businessman Fabio Caran.

He was voted the best newcomer of the 2015 Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, and is set to represent Brazil in this year’s Olympic tournament in his homeland.
