Mino Raiola, the agent who looks after many of football’s top names, has claimed Manchester United star Zlatan Ibrahimovic threatened to break his legs, as a joke, if he let Paul Pogba join any other team than the Red Devils this summer.

Raioa banked himself almost £40m after engineering the moves of Pogba, Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan to Old Trafford.

Super Swede Ibrahimovic was first to sign on 1 July. Pogba eventually followed, after six weeks of strenuous negotiation.

Raiola revealed that during the painstaking process, Ibrahimovic wanted Pogba to join him so badly, he made the jokey threat.

“Zlatan is very important to me,” Raiola told Dutch newspaper De Volskrant.

“He was the first [to sign] and he called me and said, ‘you dare let Pogba sign for someone else and I’ll break your legs.'”

After an average start, Pogba scored his first goal since his return to United in their 4-1 win over Premier League champions Leicester City.

Raiola went on to defend Pogba, and insists he will come good under Jose Mourinho.

“For Paul it is that he still needs to find the balance in the team.” Raiola added.

“My favourite him is attacking midfielder, slightly left. He will destory you with his strength, movement and technique but that is up to Mourinho.”
