Jose Mourinho set for Manchester United talks

Jose Mourinho is close to becoming the new manager of Manchester United, according to reports.

Mourinho is in London tonight, watching the David Haye fight.

His agent, Jorge Mendes, is reportedly due to fly to Manchester from China on Tuesday for talks with the Red Devils.

United, who won the FA Cup today with an extra-time 2-1 win over Crystal Palace at Wembley Stadium, have so far declined to comment on the reports.

Despite ending the season by winning a trophy, it seems that failure to qualify for the Champions League next season, coupled with not exactly the most attacking football the club have ever seen, could spell the end for current manager Louis van Gaal.

LVG, however, could even be sacked as early as Monday.

AS claim a statement will shortly be released after an agreement was reached between Mendes and Ed Woodward, with a salary which could reach 15m Euros per year.

Mourinho, nicknamed the Special One, seemingly wanted to start as early as possible, rather than wait until after the European Championships.

One of the reasons why is thought to be sorting out the futures of some players, including Michael Carrick.

Mourinho has been out of work since December, when he was sacked by Chelsea. He has seemingly been keen on the United job for some time, reports even claimed he had a dossier prepared outlining his blueprints for the club.
