Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is busy plotting his January transfer window activity, and is making Benfica defender Victor Lindelof a ‘priority’ signing, according to reports.

United have sent scouts to watch the Swede in action, and have made contact with the player’s representatives.

Lindelof comes highly recommended, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic having no fears the defender can step up.

Portuguese media outlets ‘Record’ and O Jogo claim United are keen to make a deal as soon as possible, and scouts were dispatched to watch him in Benfica’s 6-0 Taca de Portugal victory over Maritimo on Saturday.

Lindelof has eleven caps for Sweden and featured in all three of their group games at Euro 2016. He also impressed in Benfica’s Champions League clashes with Bayern Munich last season.

And the 22-year-old has one admirer in Ibrahimovic, who said: “Victor is doing great things in my opinion, he is playing good for Benfica, and he gets a lot of responsibility for the national team now.

“He is growing. Is he good enough for United? I think he is good enough for the big clubs out there. It’s up to him what he wants and what the situation says.

“Whatever he chooses will be good for him. I know he is hot on the market so let him make the right choice, what fits him good.”
