Although Marcos Rojo is one of reportedly nine players that Jose Mourinho wants to sell, the Manchester United defender has no intention of departing.
Mourinho is seemingly turning his attentions to his defence, having beefed up the attacking side of things at Old Trafford by bringing in Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, with Paul Pogba almost certain to follow suit.
Despite Eric Bailly also arriving, and Luke Shaw returning from injury, putting Argentine Rojo’s spot under threat, Rojo himself is keen to stay and prove himself to the Special One. He has reportedly turned down a move to the Chinese Super League.
Rojo arrived at United in 2014 from Sporting Lisbon for £16m.
Last season, he had a turbulent pre-season under now-former United manager Louis van Gaal. Rojo missed their trip to North America after Argentina’s Copa America campaign, citing passport problems. He was fined by LVG, and almost left for Monaco. The deal was stopped bby Jorge Mendes, Mourinho’s agent, who also looks after Rojo.
