“We are unappreciated!” – Mourinho

Jose Mourinho feels Manchester United’s ‘work of art’ will go unappreciated because of his reputation.

“I think it’s the kind of football that – if it was someone else’s team instead of a [Jose] Mourinho team – you would say: art,” Mourinho told talkSPORT

“But because it’s my team, you’ll just say it was very good – and that’s fine – but it was very good.

“We played very well, the fans understood ; they were behind them, they pushed them. And the first half was amazing.

“[In] the second half, we scored the second goal and then we had to kill the game. We didn’t kill it with 3-0, but we killed it tactically – [it was] a very important victory for us.”

Having watched his side romp to a 3-0 victory over champions Leicester last time out, many would have expected Mourinho to field the same starting XI that proved to be so affective.

But the Portuguese tactician opted to include Martial as one of his attacking options in favour of youngster Marcus Rashford.

And Mourinho was encouraged by the French international’s display in what has been a subdued campaign so far for the 21-year-old.

“The Anthony Martial I want is the Anthony Martial of the last two weeks of training. Because if he trains like he did in the past two weeks, he performs – naturally – like he did today or even better.

“Because I think he’s still missing a little bit of confidence, I kept shouting to him: attack the defender, go to the one against one – he needs that confidence.

“But he’s working very well. I gave him the chance to start. Normally, I would start with Rashford – Marcus and the team played well at Leicester – but Marcus doesn’t need a boost.

“His confidence levels are normal. Anthony needs to feel that I’m looking at him, that I know the effort that he did in training. So I gave him his chance and he played well.”
