Mauricio Pochettino insists Tottenham Hotspur are now a part of a mini league in their race to the top four.

An own goal from defender Toby Alderweireld gifted Liverpool a precious three points as Spurs remained winless in their last five matches. The North Londoners had emerged as a potential contender for the Premier League title at one time but they have failed to prove their title credentials.

The Argentine manager wasn’t able to be present in the dugout as he was serving a two game ban for his behaviour in the Burnley match. With Premier League title out of their grasp Pochettino believes they must fight for a top four spot in the rest of the games.

Pochttino said, “Now we start a mini-league, with seven games ahead, in the top four it is in our hands.

With all the circumstances happening this season, they are more than heroes, and we need to keep the trust and confidence, and of course we are going to fight to be in the Champions League.

“But I am happy with everyone. It is important to understand the circumstances of the team, of the club, of course no excuse or justification, but you know, the most important is to feel that you dominate a team that is building to win the league and Champions League. “
