Claude Puel has praised Harry Maguire.
The player dished out a diligent performance against Manchester United but could not help his side to avoid the 1-0 defeat.
Leicester City manager Claude Puel has said that Harry Maguire could have left the club last summer when Manchester United came searching for him but he did not. The England international has been one of the mainstays in the backline for both his country and club and dished out a diligent performance against the Red Devils in their last outing in the Premier League. However, he was not able to save his side’s defeat at the hands of a resurgent Manchester United side by 0-1.
Speaking to the media, Puel said, “He knew he could leave the club, but he gave us great support and respect after making progress with us. Harry’s a great man. And he can see the club is moving forwards.”
He added, “Harry had after an impressive season with us.”
The Englishman had a brilliant World Cup 2018 campaign and helped his side to go into the semi-final. He also signed a new contract with the Foxes, which would see him ply his trade at the King Power Stadium until 2023.
